Tom Ellis was born in Myrtle Point, Oregon in 1948, then soon moved to Lookingglass, Oregon where his mother’s family had been since 1852. Tom’s hard work ethic was shown from an early age, starting with raising calves on his family’s 40-acre farm. At fifteen years old he and his cousin bought a chainsaw and started to cut firewood while staying at a homestead cabin at the foot of the coast range. Tom has continued to be an entrepreneur throughout his life. After turning 18, Tom began cutting timber with his father until starting school at Umpqua Community College. After studying at UCC, Tom transferred to Prairie Bible College and graduated in 1971. After his studies, Tom worked as a youth pastor for five years until his marriage in 1976. Tom then started a forestry contracting business doing pre-commercial thinning, tree planting, clean up, controlled burns, and clearing streams by hand. He continued his contracting work until 2005, when he became a real estate agent. In 2012, Tom decided to focus on forest contracting again, while also maintaining his realtor’s license. Tom looks forward to helping you with your realty needs, whether it is timber, recreational, or ranch land.
